Prepaid or postpaid - which one is better and why?
Prepaid SIM means the price has already been paid for it. That means you have to buy talktime with money before you can use it, which a person can use to make voice calls or use the internet. As long as there is talk time or balance, the customer can use it uninterruptedly. You can use it again by recharging or reloading when the balance is reduced or completely exhausted. Thus, the prepaid is the mobile SIM card that the customer manages to fill the balance as per his convenience. Currently, the popularity of prepaid is high.
On the other hand, postpaid has become like prepaid nowadays. There was a time when the customer could use "as much money" as he wanted if he paid a certain amount of money (line rent) monthly. But later it was found that many people are abusing this facility. The rules were changed after numerous such incidents. All postpaid customers are asked to deposit a certain amount of money as a "security deposit". Suppose a customer puts a deposit of Rs. 1500. That amount will then apply to his "balance" as well. As long as he is not using voice calls or data amounting to Rs 1,500, he will be able to use the SIM with ease.
So in a sense, postpaid has become like prepaid nowadays. Payment of security deposit and bill only in case of postpaid, and recharge and usage in case of prepaid.
